Our head professional Paddy McGuirk has a long family history at County Louth Golf Club. His father Michael McGuirk was the club’s pro from 1938 -1974. Michael introduced Paddy to golf from an early age and Paddy developed a real passion for the game. At the age of 15 Paddy made the transition into the professional ranks, a career that saw him spend 8 years on the European Tour. Amongst his most notable achievements was winning the 1973 Carroll’s International, he also won the Carroll’s Irish Matchplay Championship twice in 1969 and 1982. Late in 1979 Paddy took over the role as head professional from the late Danny O’Brien. As a qualified PGA professional Paddy also competed in the PGA’s Irish Region winning numerous titles, including the Irish PGA stroke play. In 2020 Paddy celebrated 40 years as head pro at the club and continues to provide sterling service to the members. Paddy runs a well-stocked shop, filled with leading brands.
